Azerbaijan’s monthly inflation slowed to 0.1% in May 2026, easing for the fourth consecutive month and reaching its lowest level in ten months, down from 0.3% in April. The deceleration was driven largely by food prices, which fell by 0.1% after having risen 0.3% in the previous month, with notable declines in buckwheat, beef and mutton, as well as sausage and cheese products. Inflation for alcoholic beverages was recorded at 0.2%, while tobacco prices were unchanged. Price growth for non-food products also moderated, rising by 0.1% after a 0.2% increase in April, mainly reflecting smaller price gains for paint, plastic pipes, detergents, and personal hygiene products. Meanwhile, prices for paid services rose by 0.2%, down from 0.3% previously, despite higher tariffs for international air passenger transport. On a yearly basis, consumer prices were up 5.6%, edging slightly higher from 5.5% in April.
